No More Weekly Updates

Ok so I gave it some thought, and I feel like reading one page a week
isn't the best way to read a consecutive story like this. It works for
cereal comics that have their "punch line" or what not all in one page,
but I think for this type of story it's better to read it in sections
at a time.
So conclusion. I'll be updating quarterly with 20 or so page chapter at a time.

色々考えたんで、毎週のアップロードするのはもう終わりにしたいと思っています。一週間後一ページだけ読んで頂いても、ペースが遅すぎて話に乗りづらいかもしれません。いつも、この前に何があったっけとよく思ってしまうかもしれませんし。
一ページでちゃんと始まりと終わりもあるコミックの場合、毎週一ページでいいと思いますが、このコミックには一つの話は２０ページほどかかるかもしれません。
というわけで、これかれ毎週一ページのアップロードの代わりにこれから毎年四回２０ページぐらいチャプターとしてアップロードすることにしています。

Third Stanza

So I'm now starting to upload the third stanza. You may notice
the styles been changing a bit. I'm experimenting with different
mediums and trying to mix some traditional mediums in with the
digital. You'll see some pencil, some ink, some screen toning,
and even some sumi-e or india ink images.

I went over to OnlineComics.net to see if my site had any activity.
Seeing as I just sorta registered my comic and then completely forgot
about it I wasn't expecting much, but it looks like I've actually
gotten a number of hits and actually have a small number of fans. It's
nothing huge, but just knowing that some people are actually reading my
comic really helps motivate me to keep at it.
Today marks the completion of the second stanza. I think I'm finally
getting the hang of things, and after taking some time to work on the
Japanese version of the first two stanzas I think I'd like to start
uploading twice a week instead of the usual once.
ずっと前にこのサイトをOnlineComics.netにレジスターしたんで、そのサイトからこのコミックを見ていただいている方がおられるかどうか
ちょっと確認してみました。余り期待しなかったが、実にファンがいらっしゃる様です。すごい数じゃないですけど、少なくても、このコミックを呼んでいただ
いている方々がおられることだけで本当に嬉しく思います。
これで何か改めて頑張る気がしますね。
今日で第二篇が完成します。徐々に慣れてくるんで、ちょっと時間をとって第一と第二編の日本語訳を書いて、第三編から同時に日本語と英語で毎週二回アップロードできるように頑張りたいと思います。

I had some issues with my ftp connection, but my programmer friend got
it up and running again so things will be back to normal again.
遅くなってすみませんでした。FTPクライアントはちょっと変になって、アップロード出来なくなりました。
でもプログラマーの友達の助けでもう直ったんで、これから、また普通のようにアップロードしましね

Sorry for the late update. I've been busy
preparing for my trip to the states. I'll be here for about three weeks
before returning to Japan. My schedule has been thrown a little out of
wack, and I don't always have internet access, but I'll do my best to
keep uploading a new page each week.

Thought maybe it's about time for a new post.
I've been busy working as an English teacher by day and an artist by
night.
Whenever I have time off from work, instead of resting, I spend
hours working on digital paintings and sketching pages or my comic.
もうそろそろ新しいポストしなきゃと思っていて。
昼は英語教師で夜はアーチストでいつも忙しくてインタネットでポストしたりする暇もない。
休日か暇のときがあれば、休むの変わりにデジ絵とか漫画を描いたりするので、実は休みはない。
I've been working on one piece for a long while now as sort of a
personal landmark to symbolize this new road I'm taking in life, now
that I've decided to return to art.
It's probably he largest and most detailed digital painting I've
ever done. (About 200MB). Already put about 70 hours into it. I like
it, but I'll probably never paint something this detailed again. Maybe
that's why I'm going into comic illustration now. Better not to spend
more than a week or so on any one image.
今描いている絵は今まで描いたデジ絵の中で一番大きくて細かい絵だと思う。２００MBぐらい。描くのはもう70時間ぐらい過した。そしてこれから
まだ少なくても１０時間ぐらいかかると思う。僕にとってアート業界に戻ることを決意するのは人生の転換点だと信じているんで、この時期をマークすることが
できるようにこの絵を描くことにした。だから、すごく意味深いイメージなんだ。
ですが、このような細かい絵を描くのは二同と描かなくても構わない。最初の３０時間ぐらいは楽しかったが４０時間すぎるともう終わりにしたいな。でも、も
うそろそろ完成だと思うので今のファイナルストレッチだけで頑張ればいいんだ。
そしてこれからもっとコミックイラストのような一つのイメージで１，２週間以上過さない絵を集中した方がいいじゃないかな。
But I think it's almost complete, so I'll just work hard for this
last stretch and hopefully finish with a final piece I can be proud of.
In addition to that, of course I still draw a page of my manga
each week while reading lots of manga to find new techniques to try.
I honestly don't like how my comic looks right now. But I've been
trying some new stuff, that I haven't posted yet that I think may work
a little better.
I got Adobe painter now too. Kinda have a learning curve to get
over adjusting to the new program but hopefully I'll find some use for
it.
その上、もちろん毎週新しい漫画ページも描き続けるし。いつも漫画を読んで、いろんなスタイルを見習ってみたりしている。
実は今の漫画のスタイルはまだ不満だ。
Adobe Painterというソフトも手に入ってちょっと使ってみたと思ったがまだ、慣れていないね。
でも、ま、これから慣れて行いて、だんだん私に似合うスタイル見つけるだろうね。

最近東京で漫画専門学校を探していて、たまにただのクラスでも参加することもできたので、これから、私のスタ
イルは
徐々に変わるかもしれない。アメリカで美術専門で大学から卒業したんだけれど、勉強したのはほとんど油絵やイラスト等なので、漫画を描く機会が余りなく
て、
まだ漫画とに合うスタイルを探さなければならないと思う。特にもっと早く書ける方法が重要だと思う。
でも、最近のクラスでいろんなことを学んだので、大学で勉強したデッサンや油絵の基礎にもっと漫画らしいな技術を加えて、自分の漫画を描くスタイルを見つ
けることができると思っておる。。
Lately I've been looking around at Manga Schools
in Tokyo and I've even been able to take part in a few free lessons, so
I think my style might begin to change a little
bit in the time ahead. I graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from my
Univerisity in America, but we were
mostly studying oil paintings and illustration techniques and so I
didn't really have
much of a chance to draw manga, so I think I still need to find a style
that is suitable
for manga. Especially ways to draw pages more quickly. But I've learned
a lot from the classes I've been attending and I think I'll be able to
find a style that utilizes my Fine Arts education as a base and adds to
that a more suitable
manga drawing method.
